Representing the RSC at the 2011 Iowa State Fair:
Queen candidates are judged based on selection criteria of the Iowa State Fair
Queen Contest. The judge’s decisions for the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest are
based 50% on beauty, attractiveness and appropriateness of western attire; and
50% on horsemanship (horse not to count). Contestants compete similar to a
Western Pleasure class in addition to demonstration of other horsemanship skills
and the “Queen Salute.”
Eligibility:
Queen candidates must be a paid member of the Redfield Saddle Club as of June 15, 2010. Queen candidates are
competing for the opportunity to represent the Redfield Saddle Club through the remainder of 2011 and at the Cowgirl
Queen Contest at the Iowa State Fair in August 2011. Redfield Saddle Club Queen Contestants must meet all
requirements for the Iowa Cowgirl Queen Contest. (Prior year Queens representing Redfield Saddle Club are not allowed
to return for this competition; however, the prior Junior Queen can compete in the Senior QueenContest if she is in that next
age category.)
Responsibilities:
Queen Representatives will be active members of the Redfield Saddle Club for the duration of her reign. This includes
assisting at fun shows and participating in local parades and events that are designated as club activities. Queen
Representatives must also pay their 2011 club dues by the date of the May 2011 Redfield Saddle Club Fun Show.
Queen Representatives will assume the responsibility for obtaining the necessary entry forms required by the Iowa State
Fair Cowgirl Queen Contest and submitting those forms to the Redfield Saddle Club in the required time frame. These
forms are available from the Iowa State Fair Horse Superintendent. Deadline is typically the early to mid July.

Eligibility for Little Miss Princess Candidates

Open to participants 9 & Under. Participants must be current members. The competition is similar to our walk/trot
classes and requires a horse and rider. Lead line participants are not eligible. The judge will reach a decision based
on each candidate's riding ability and cowgirl appearance.
